"Civility in Action"

December 2 2005 from 8am to 12pm

Forest Hill Presbyterian Church

Event Coordinator: RSchmidt

"Civility" is a topic that makes the news. Periodic outbreaks of bad behavior from politicians, students, parents of athletes and others trigger rounds of articles and commentaries decrying the lack of civility in today?s society.

We are a group that wants to do something about civility or the lack thereof. For six months, our group has been meeting to discuss civility, our concerns about the lack of civility in everyday life, and our vision of a community in which civility becomes a priority.

Join us for a one-half day seminar on civility featuring speakers from the Duluth, Minnesota, "Speak Your Peace" Project. In its fourth year, the Duluth project is a community-based campaign organized by community leaders to urge citizens to communicate in a more respectful way.

There is no cost - all of us are volunteering our time for this project or squeezing the meetings into already full work schedules. We have received support for the cost of the speakers and breakfast from the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, and Forest Hill Presbyterian Church has donated its space for the seminar.
